UN: UN chief Antonio Guterres expressed condolences for the victims of 9/11 attacks, said – you are not alone

UN chief Antonio Guterres remembered the victims of the 9/11 attacks on Sunday, saying survivors of such terrorist attacks could bring new perspectives to the implementation of counter-terrorism policies. This message of the UN chief was given by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amani Mohammed at the United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism in New York on Sunday. Antonio Guterres said in one of his tweets, 'My condolences go out to the relatives of those killed in 9/11 as well as to all the people of New York. This city has been my home for many years. I have also hosted the United Nations here and I have so many allies here that I will never forget. 

Solidarity moral responsibility for the victims

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amani Mohamed said solidarity and support for the victims of terrorism is a moral responsibility. Humanity and human rights are very essential for this. He said that today's Congress is not only to benefit the victims. It is an essential part of our efforts to prevent and root out terrorism everywhere.He stressed that elevating the voices and views of victims and survivors of terrorism demonstrates that terrorists will never be stronger and that victims and survivors bring unique knowledge and new perspectives to ground counter-terrorism policies. 

Terrorism affects many areas

He said, 'You help bring criminals to justice. Your voice counters the radical narrative. Today's Congress is an opportunity to stand by you and recognize your experiences and your invaluable contribution. Amani said terrorism exacerbates poverty, political, economic instability and climate change. Terrorism affects people of all ages, genders, religions, cultures of all kinds, as well as nationalities.
