NASA DART Mission: An amazing event is going to happen at a distance of millions of km from Earth, NASA's spacecraft will collide with Asteroid

Next Monday, NASA's Dart mission will hit an asteroid. The purpose of this mission is to see whether the direction of an asteroid coming towards Earth can be changed or not. This is a historic mission of NASA.

NASA may not have been able to do what it was trying to do by launching its Artemis-1 mission so far, but on 26 September 2022, it will definitely create a history. September 26 is going to be important for scientists and astronomy enthusiasts all over the world. On this day NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test ie Dart mission will take place. This mission is very interesting in itself. Under this mission, NASA is going to try to change its direction by colliding with a meteoroid moving towards the Earth. If he is successful in this then it will be a big achievement in space science.

Asteroid is far away from Earth

This asteroid is about several million km from the earth. The vehicle that NASA is going to hit this asteroid has been built at a cost of about 26 billion rupees. This vehicle has been specially designed to collide with it. This is the first mission of its kind for NASA and the world. If NASA is successful in this mission, it will help in changing the path of the huge asteroid coming towards the Earth in the future.

What time will this collision happen

This collision of NASA's vehicle will happen at 7.14 pm (4.44 am on Tuesday Indian time). For this mission, this vehicle was launched about ten months ago. It's as big as a small car. According to NASA, the possibility of this asteroid hitting the Earth is negligible. During the collision, Italy's satellite will take pictures of it and provide it to NASA. It's just behind this dart. Astride will be about 11 million kilometers away from Earth during the collision.

Millions of asteroids spin in the asteroid belt

Let us tell you that this asteroid is located at a distance of about 500 million km from the earth. In this, different sizes of asteroids keep circling all the time. These asteroid belts are located between Jupiter and Mars. While circling in this belt, some of the asteroids come out of this belt by mutual collision. While circling the universe, many times they enter the atmosphere of the earth. After this they fall on the earth like a big fireball. The energy and sound emanating from them is very loud. Such asteroids have fallen many times in many places on the earth. There is a fear of loss of life and property from them. In such a situation, the Dart mission of NASA will be able to stop this devastation on Earth.

There is an exercise to change the path of Astride

The DART mission will help scientists to know whether the path of an asteroid coming towards Earth can be changed or not. Apart from this, scientists will also be able to know how such a mission will react to Asteroid. Till now such stories have been a part of fiction movies. But for the first time this story is going to be true. The name of the asteroid with which NASA's Dart mission is going to collide is Dimarphos. It is also called Moonlet or little moon in astronomical language. This Asteroid is circling close to the Earth. Its diameter is about 160 meters.
