Nasal Vaccine: will be available in the form of caution dose free of cost in government hospitals

The center on Tuesday fixed the price of INCOVAK, the world's first corona vaccine to be taken from the nose of Bharat Biotech, which is being seen as a potential game changer in the war against Corona. This nasal vaccine, used for people above 18 years, will be available for Rs 800 in private hospitals and Rs 325 in government hospitals. GST will have to be paid separately on this.

Nasal vaccine can be available free of cost in government hospitals

Let us tell you that due to the low alertness dose, the government is considering making it available free of cost in government hospitals, but no decision has been taken so far. The INCOVAK vaccine will be available in the fourth week of January. It is expected that the vigilance dose campaign will get a new momentum with the introduction of the nasal vaccine. This nasal vaccine, prepared on a different platform and in a different way, can prove to be important in the war against Corona. Due to nasal administration, this vaccine will be able to develop immunity in the upper respiratory tract, which will protect the person from getting infected with the corona virus.

Will help in defeating Corona

In view of the new wave of corona in the world, the government will include it in the corona vaccination campaign and is also considering making it available free of cost in government hospitals. A senior Health Ministry official said that a decision has not been taken on this yet, but it is being seriously considered. He said that vigilance dose was till now given free of cost in government hospitals only during a special campaign for 75 days. A similar special campaign can be launched for the nasal vaccine as well.

Nasal vaccine is safe and effective

The nasal vaccine has been found to be safe and effective throughout the three-phase trial process. It was trialled at 14 places in the country, in which 3100 people participated. It was approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) in November after it was found to be safe and effective. This vaccine can be given to any person who has taken both doses of Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik, any vaccine. INCOVAK vaccine given through nasal drops will work on people who have taken any vaccine.

Bharat Biotech's Executive Chairman Dr. Krishna Illa said that India has got another better option for vigilance dose. This vaccine will help in increasing the immunization of a large number of people simultaneously. He informed that this vaccine has been developed in partnership with the University of Washington.

Important points to know:

This nasal vaccine will act as a caution dose. Two drops of it will be put through a drop in the nose.

People who have taken two doses of Covishield and Covaxin will be able to take it as a caution dose.

Those who have already taken the vigilance dose will not be given this dose.

Private hospitals are also allowed to levy an administrative charge of Rs 150 per dose.

So far only 27 percent people have taken the vigilance dose while 97 percent people have taken the first dose and 90 percent people have taken the second dose. Therefore, the nasal vaccine is more effective. This vaccine given through the nose produces immunity in the upper part of the respiratory system (nose and throat). It works to protect against infection. The traditional vaccine, that is, the vaccine given by injection into the muscle, develops immunity in the lower part of the respiratory system (lung). It is not able to prevent infection, but prevents the infection from becoming serious.
