Weather Update Today: Rainy season will start in these states including UP, Delhi, alert issued in MP, Rajasthan

Incessant rains in many states of the country have worsened the situation.  Cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal on Thursday caused a lot of damage.  The Meteorological Department has forecast that the rains will not stop for 4-5 days in Maharashtra.  At the same time, light rain is expected in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Bihar.  Orange alert has been issued in Uttarakhand due to heavy rains.

At the same time, heavy rain is expected in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana.  According to Skymet Weather, the Monsoon Trough (Low-Pressure Area) will move towards the northern parts for some time and light to moderate rain may occur over Delhi and other areas from Saturday.  During this time only minor relief is expected.  The low pressure area is likely to move northwestwards across Uttar Pradesh.  With this, a new round of rain can start in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Heavy rain likely in these states including MP, Rajasthan

According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of heavy rain with light to moderate rain at a few places over Madhya Pradesh, Southeast Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch and Konkan and Goa on Friday.  Light to moderate rain at one or two places with heavy rain at one or two places may occur over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.  The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana.  Also, in view of heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Orange Alert has been issued by the department.

Light to moderate rain is possible over Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, parts of Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, West Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  Light rain is possible over Uttarakhand, Ladakh, rest of Northeast India, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Heavy rain alert for next three days

Active Monsoon conditions are likely to continue over the central parts of the country for the next two days.  There is an alert of heavy rain in the areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh between August 12 and 14 and in western Uttar Pradesh on August 14.  Monsoon is currently dry from UP for a few days.  Monsoon winds are concentrated around Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.  In such a situation, the districts adjoining these states can get relief from rain.

Orange and yellow alert issued in many districts of Madhya Pradesh

With heavy rains in most parts of Madhya Pradesh disrupting normal life, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert regarding torrential rains at isolated places in the districts of Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram and Jabalpur divisions of the state.  Alert has been issued.  Apart from this, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert in the districts of Bhopal and Shahdol divisions of the state and in Sheopur, Chhatarpur and Sagar districts, forecasting heavy rain at some places.  The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunder and lightning at isolated places in the districts of Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Bhopal, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, Chambal and Gwalior divisions in the next 24 hours.  All these alerts will remain in effect till Friday.

Heavy rain warning in Odisha

Another possible low pressure area is likely to cause heavy rains in Odisha.  However, the state has been receiving heavy rains for the past few days.  The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal and Bargarh on Friday.  The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for very heavy rains in several districts including Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Raigad on Saturday and Sunday.
