DRDO successfully test-fires indigenously developed Man Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile
Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) today successfully test-fired the indigenously developed Low Weight Fire and Forget Man Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in a boost to strengthen and boost self-reliant India and the Indian Army.
In a bid to strengthen and boost self-reliant India and the Indian Army, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test-fired the indigenously developed Low Weight, Fire and Forget Man-Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM). The missile was launched from a man-portable launcher integrated with a thermal sight and the target was mimicking a tank. DRDO further stated that the missile hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision. The test has successfully provided validation in the minimum range.

The missile is fitted with a state-of-the-art Miniature Infrared Imaging Seeker with advanced avionics. The missile was launched from a manned portable launcher integrated with a thermal sight and the target was mimicking a tank. The missile hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision. The test has successfully verified the minimum threshold.
The Man-Portable Missile is launched using a tripod, which is designed to have a maximum range of 2.5 km with a weight of 15 kg at launch. Controlled flight tests have been carried out successfully and guided flight tests (with IIR Seeker) are planned.
