Depot supplies 25 percent of fuel requirements

According to information, the fuel storage station, operated by the state-run oil and gas company Pertamina, is near a densely populated area in the Tanah Merah neighborhood in North Jakarta. It supplies 25 percent of Indonesia's fuel needs. 

Hundreds of firefighters present at the spot

Fire officials said at least 180 firefighters and 37 fire tenders were present at the spot to douse the blaze.

Videos of the incident shown on local TV channels showed hundreds of people running in panic. At the same time, thick clouds of black smoke and fire were seen in the entire sky.

According to the information, the firemen brought the fire under control. Pertamina area manager Eko Kristiawan said a preliminary investigation showed a pipeline burst during heavy rains breaks the fire.
