US President Donald Trump made such a claim in recent days which became difficult to believe. Trump said that India is considering banning oil imports from Russia. The US President termed this move as the right step. However, India clarified that oil imports from Russia will continue.

Meanwhile, a big information has come to light regarding energy imports. After knowing which Donald Trump can get relief. Actually, in the last few months, India has increased energy imports from America significantly. It is believed that this step is in an attempt to create a trade balance between the two countries.

Information revealed in the report

News agency ANI quoted a source as saying that India has significantly increased its crude oil imports from the United States since Donald Trump became the President of America for the second time.

This import has increased by more than half compared to the last few years. It is believed that this increase reflects a significant change in India's energy purchase strategy.

What do the figures say?

The report said that between January and June, crude oil imports from the US have increased by 51 percent. It is believed that this significant increase has happened since PM Modi and Donald Trump met in February. When PM Modi visited the US, India had talked about increasing US energy imports from $15 billion to $25 billion.

Huge increase in oil imports from America

The figures revealed show that in the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26, India's crude oil imports from the US have increased by 114 percent to about $3.7 billion. It is worth noting that during the same period last year it was $1.73 billion. Let us tell you that this pace increased further in July this year, when crude oil imports from the US were 23 percent higher than in June.

Huge jump in LPG and LNG imports too

Not only crude oil imports, but the increased trade also extends to other energy products apart from crude oil. According to reports, India's import of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US has also increased rapidly.

Let us tell you that in the financial year 2024-25, LNG imports reached $2.46 billion. Which is almost double the $1.41 billion last year. It saw an increase of about 100 percent.

It is worth noting that this jump in energy imports has come at a time when both the countries are expressing optimism about their comprehensive relations.
