Ruchira Kamboj, India's first permanent woman envoy to the UN, took charge, was stationed in Bhutan.

Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj replaces TS Tirumurti, the current Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. Ruchira Kamboj is a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj has taken over as the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. Ruchira will be India's first woman envoy to the United Nations Headquarters in New York. He replaces TS Tirumurti, the current Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. Ruchira Kamboj is a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Ruchira was India's first female ambassador to Bhutan

Earlier, Ruchira was serving as India's ambassador to Bhutan. Kamboj has also served as India's High Commissioner to South Africa and India's Ambassador/Permanent Representative to UNESCO. Ruchira was India's first female ambassador to Bhutan.

India's term at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will end in December this year when the country will also chair as the president of the powerful UNITED NATIONS for this month. Kamboj had earlier served as a counsellor in India's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2002-2005.

Kamboj had tweeted on Monday that he had just arrived in New York as India's designated permanent representative to the UN. It was great to meet all my fellow ambassadors at the Security Council today. It is a great honour for me to serve my country through this new position.
