Tom Verlaine: Famous guitarist Tom Verlaine dies in New York, the band disbanded after the second album

Tom Verlaine, the legendary guitarist and co-founder of the seminal proto-punk band Television, died on Saturday. Tom Verlaine breathed his last at the age of 73 in the presence of close friends in New York. Tom Verlaine died Saturday in New York City after a brief illness, Kara Hutchison from the Lede Company, a public relations firm. 

Tom Verlaine was the best guitarist

The death of Tom Verlaine flooded the internet media with tweets and everyone started sharing memories related to him. Meanwhile, Mike Scott of the Waterboys called Tom Verlaine the best rock and roll guitarist ever. Let us tell you that Tom Verlaine released 8 solo albums. Out of which 1981's 'Dreamtime' got the most love. The album peaked at number 177 on the Billboard charts. 

Television did not get success

Television has never had much commercial success. But the show influenced many musicians. Television released their debut album "Marquee Moon" in the year 1977. Billboard magazine wrote in 2003 that Marquee Moon was a major influence on artists such as Sonic Youth, The Strokes and Jeff Buckley. However, a feud between Tom Verlaine and fellow guitarist Richard Lloyd escalated. Because of which the television band was disbanded after the second album 'Adventure'.
