Kim Jong sacked the second most powerful military officer, played a key role in making missiles and weapons

kim Jong: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sacked Pak Jong Chon, the second most powerful military officer. Pak Jong was the deputy chairman of the Central Military Commission as well as the secretary of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party. Local media reported on Sunday that Ri Yong Gil has now been posted in his place.

Government reshuffles personnel at the end of the year

However, the reason for the change has not been disclosed yet. By the way, Kim's dictatorial government in North Korea regularly reforms the leadership. Party assemblies are held at the end of the year, often with decisions on personnel reshuffles and major policy decisions. 

On New Year's Day, Kim Jong-un visited the Kumsusan Palace, where the bodies of his grandfather and father are kept, but Pak Jong was nowhere to be seen with them. This led to speculations that Pak Jong has been removed from the post as he was also present with Kim in this palace on the anniversary of the party in October. 

Kim has ordered to make missiles

Kim presides over the party's Central Military Commission. In North Korea, it is the country's most powerful military decision-making body above the Ministry of Defense.

Pakistan's dismissal comes at a time when Kim has directed to develop new intercontinental ballistic missiles and a large nuclear arsenal to counter the US and South Korea under the 2023 Defense Policy.

Pakistan has been a major contributor to the advancement of short-range missile technology. He rose from a one-star artillery commander in 2015 to a four-star general in 2020. At the same time, seeing Pak's commendable work towards the country, he was placed on the country's second highest military rank after Kim.

He has played an important role in the development of many types of weapons in the army. Still he was dismissed from the post. Well, Ri Yong, who replaced Pak, is also a senior military commander who has held key positions including Chief of the General Staff of the Army and Defense Minister.
