7 killed including 3 children and a woman after a moving Lahore-bound Passenger train catches fire
The train was on its way from Karachi to Lahore when the accident occurred. The train caught fire in Khairpur district, 500 km north of Karachi. Due to the fire, several other coaches of the train were also badly damaged and the fire is yet to be detected. The reason is not clear.
At least seven people, including three children and a woman, were killed when a fire broke out in a coach of an express train in Pakistan's Sindh province. Officials gave this information on Thursday.
Railway spokesman Komal Rashid said the train caught fire in Khairpur district, about 500 kilometers (300 miles) north of Karachi, the capital of Sindh province. He said that the fire also badly damaged several other coaches in the train, and the cause of the fire is not yet clear.
TV footage showed several charred parts of the train, which was traveling from Karachi to the eastern city of Lahore, when a coach caught fire. Local media reported that the train caught fire on Wednesday night and engulfed several bogies.
Train accidents in Pakistan are often the result of poor railway infrastructure and official negligence.
