A Chinese boat had come for fishing in the Indian Ocean, but it met with an accident. According to state media, a Chinese fishing boat has sunk and all 39 crew members on board are missing. Broadcaster CCTV said the incident happened at around 3 am on Tuesday.
There are 39 people from China, Indonesia and the Philippines
The report said that of the 39 crew members, 17 were from China, 17 from Indonesia and five from the Philippines. However, no information has been received about the cause of the sinking.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang have ordered Chinese diplomats abroad as well as the ministries of agriculture and transport to assist in the search for survivors.
China runs the largest fishing fleet
The Lupenglaiyuanyu No. 8 dock was in the eastern province of Shandong, being operated by Penglaiyingyu Co., Ltd. China is believed to operate the largest fishing fleet in the world.
Many of them stay at sea for months or even years. They are assisted by Chinese state maritime security agencies and an extensive network of ships.
Cyclone kills 21 in Myanmar and Bangladesh
The cyclone has made landfall in Myanmar and Bangladesh, causing widespread destruction and killing at least 21 people, with hundreds more feared missing.
