Complaints of fraud increased in the advertising industry, Dhoni and Bhuvan Bam are also included in the list

Advertising Industry Dhoni: The self-regulatory body of the advertising industry, ASCI, said on Wednesday that there has been a huge increase in complaints against celebrities who advertise.
The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) said in a report that 503 advertisements related to claims against celebrities were registered in the financial year 2022-23, which is 803 percent more than 55 cases a year ago.
According to the report, celebrities are now legally required to do due diligence before being part of any advertisement under the Consumer Protection Act, but in 97 per cent of the cases we have come across, they have failed to provide any evidence of this due diligence .
Dhoni and Bhuvan Bam lead the list
Among these celebrities, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni leads with 10 complaints. Apart from them, there are seven cases against YouTube's famous Bhuvan Bam for non-compliance advertising conditions.
The report says that about half of the violations were found in ads related to gaming, education, healthcare and personal care products.
This organization of the advertising industry had received 8,951 complaints in the financial year 2022-23, out of which it reviewed 7,928 advertisements.
The special thing is that about three-fourths of the advertisements were released on digital media. ASCI said such breach in digital media raises serious concerns about the safety of consumers on online forums.
