For me, writing a thriller isn’t comfort - it’s a fresh challenge I take on with every book

Chirasree Bose, an acclaimed Indian author of four fiction books, is all set to come up with her fifth book. When we asked her about the same, she quipped, “The baking is done, the icing remains”. It is going to be her fourth thriller book and three in a row. She further added that the book has a very unique plotline revolving around only a few characters, but the characters are the essence of the story; they are going to surprise her readers hugely.

Chirasree also opened up on her unending love for thrillers, both as a reader and a writer. Her all-time favourite author being Agatha Christie, she keeps on reading the legend’s detective thrillers one after another. “They are enthralling,” she said. Chirasree was also profusely moved by Alex Michaelides’ The Silent Patient. When we asked her which Indian authors’ books she loves to read, she stressed that she likes Novoneel Chakraborty’s style of writing and makes it a point to read his every book.

“So, Chirasree, why a thriller once again?” We asked, to which she smiled and replied, “I’ve always said that stories choose their tellers, and this story has chosen me. Yes, it happens to be a thriller as well, and this is such an interesting concept that I am very excited about the book already. At the same time, I want to say that I don’t write thrillers because they are my comfort space. Each of my books so far has had a unique storyline, each different from another - even within the thriller genre. They have taken immense research and structuring and writing and rewriting and editing. My 5th will also be quite a unique one, my first ever psychological thriller, and I am hoping it will win my readers’ hearts like my other books did.”

We wish the author all the best for her upcoming book. May it be loved and celebrated by her readers as her previous books Where Love Was Sinful, There’s Blood on Your Heart, and others were.
