GST Council decided to reduce tax on molasses to 5 percent

As per the decisions taken in the 52nd meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, the government has today reduced the GST on Molasses.
GST on molasses has been reduced from 18 percent to 5 percent. Apart from this, the GST Council has decided to exempt liquor for human consumption from levy.
GST will be applicable on ENA
Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, who is a member of the GST Council, said Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) for industrial use will continue to attract Goods and Services Tax (GST).
TS Singh Deo told the media after the 52nd meeting of the GST Council that - "ENA for human consumption will be exempted from GST and the same will be informed to the Supreme Court."
What is molasses?
Molasses, a by-product of sugarcane and a material used as raw material for alcohol production, has been reduced from 18 per cent to 5 per cent.
