Imran did not appear in the court
70-year-old Imran had challenged the trial of the case, but Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar dismissed the objection after hearing the arguments of the lawyers. The judge declared the accused Imran guilty.
The court has also personally summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief. Earlier, the court had fixed February 7 as the date for conviction, but the process was postponed several times.
Imran did not appear in the court. The matter is based on the decision of the Election Commission of November 22 last year.
Imran is currently facing 140 cases
The commission decided to pursue the case against Imran. In a note sent to the court, the commission said that Imran misled the authorities about the gifts he had received from foreign dignitaries while he was the prime minister.
The cricketer-turned-politician is currently facing 140 cases. Cases have been registered against him for sedition, terrorism, murder, attempt to murder, blasphemy and other charges.
