This gateway tower has been named 'Tower of Unity and Prosperity'. Sri Venkateswara Temple is considered to be the largest Hindu temple in North America. Governor Cooper said, 'What a wonderful day it is in times of trouble.
The tower got the Approval in the year 2019
Laxminarayan Srinivasan, general secretary of the temple board of trustees, said the approval for the tower was given in 2019, and construction began in April, 2020. Sri Venkateswara Temple came into existence in 1988 following a growing demand from Indians living in the Triangle region of North Carolina who wanted to reproduce the grandeur and finely detailed artwork of South Indian temples here. The temple is modeled after the famous Sri Venkateswara Temple at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
'The Tower Symbolizes the Feet of God'
Temple President Dr. Raj Thotakura said that the tower symbolizes the feet of the Lord. When the devotees come they bow at the feet of the Lord before coming to the Raja Gopuram and when they go to the temple they leave all their worries behind.
According to the 2021 census, more than 51,000 Indian Americans live in Wake County. There are 19,903 Indian Americans living in Kerry, North Carolina.
