Have to apply
Under the current process, a person has to apply for a visa stamp at the US embassy in his home country. Indian-American citizen Jain Bhutoria, a member of the commission, had suggested to stamp the H-1B visa in the US. Bhutoria told the commission meeting that visa holders face problems after getting it renewed or traveling to their country.
Fear of getting visa application stuck
Sometimes they have to be separated from their families. There are also situations when parents of many people are admitted in ICU or one's guardian passes away. But they cannot go to their country. They are afraid that the visa application may get stuck.
Visa waiting period in India at present 844 days
A large number of people are facing uncertainty when it comes to getting or renewing H-1B visas. Currently, the waiting period for getting a visa in India is 844 days. Similar situation exists in Pakistan, Bangladesh and many other countries. In such a situation, their visa is not stamped and they get stuck.
