President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump, who were bitter political rivals for nearly four years in the US, met at the White House on Wednesday. In the meeting, Biden promised to transfer power in a normal way in January as promised earlier. The meeting of the two leaders in the Oval House took place in a cordial atmosphere.

Trump was welcomed by Biden and his wife Jill. During this, Jill Biden also gave Trump a handwritten congratulatory message for his wife Melania. After Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential election, the situation became tense and Trump did not congratulate Biden on his victory, alleging that the election was rigged.

During the same time, Trump supporters attacked and occupied the US Parliament. In this election too, Biden withdrew his candidature in July after personal allegations from both sides. During the campaign, Biden called Trump a threat to democracy, while Trump called Biden incompetent. After that, Kamala Harris contested the election as the candidate of the Democratic Party. After the meeting on Wednesday, Biden said, we are looking forward to the future. As I have said earlier, there will be a smooth transfer of power. All those tasks will be done which will be convenient for you (Trump). We welcome you back.

In response to this, Trump said, politics is tough and there are many examples in the world in which political experiences have not been good. But today it feels very good. I praise Joe (Biden) for the kind of environment that has been created for the smooth transfer of power. During this, reporters asked many questions but Trump ignored them and left.

Trump expressed desire for a third term as President

During his visit to Washington on Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump also met the MPs of his Republican Party who won the election in the House of Representatives. He expressed satisfaction with the party's position in the House. Said, victory is always good. During this, Trump also expressed his desire to work in the third term of the presidency.

He said that there could be a change in the constitution for this. In the current constitutional system in America, no person can remain in the post of President for more than two terms. This constitutional system can be changed only when the assemblies of all the states of America pass a resolution with a three-fourth majority. This process of amending the constitution to extend the term of the President is about seven years long.

It may be noted that Franklin D Roosevelt remained President after becoming President in 1933 till his death in 1945. He is the only person to have been President of America for more than two terms. After him, the provision of becoming President maximum two times was made by amending the constitution. Meanwhile, the Republican Party MPs, who had a majority in the Senate, elected John Tune as their leader on Wednesday. This election was held for one year.
