Amidst the threat of monkeypox virus looming in the world, Germany's Health Ministry said that 19,500 more doses of monkeypox vaccine will be distributed across the country next week by the government. Demand far exceeds supply.

The DPA news agency reported on Saturday that some 40,000 doses of the vaccine were dispatched to different states in the country in June itself and a consignment of 5,300 vaccines was dispatched in July.

The government has already signed a contract to distribute a total of 240,000 doses. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said that the spread of the virus should be stopped with the help of all available means.

Health Minister Carl says, 'The contract also includes things like identifying people who have come in contact with infected patients by health officials, giving information about the virus and the importance of the vaccine.'

Sven Lehmann, the government's commissioner overseeing homosexuality issues, says the desire to vaccinate is particularly high among men who have sex with men. But in risky areas, the demand is much higher than the supply. The problem is that in some cities people are not even able to get appointments for vaccination.

It is known that 3,405 cases of monkeypox virus have been reported in Germany since May. The Imvanex vaccine for monkeypox is being produced in Germany, which is also used to treat smallpox.

In monkeypox infection, the patient sees problems like fever, headache, body pain, and rash and blisters in the body. In some cases, the patient even loses his life.

The World Health Organization says that since monkeypox came to the world, most cases have been seen in men who have physical relations with a man, especially those who have more than one partner.
