PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari, took a big step, renounced British citizenship to support the freedom movement
Zulfi's appointment as SAPM was challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2020 for being a dual national. The petition states that dual citizens should not be appointed as special assistants to the premier.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Syed Zulfikar Bukhari took a big step. Bukhari renounced his British citizenship on Sunday. Explaining the reason, he said that he will fight with former PM Imran Khan for his 'real freedom movement'. Let us inform you that Bukhari had served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development.
Syed Zulfikar Bukhari tweeted saying -
Bukhari is considered a close aide and friend of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Bukhari tweeted from his official Twitter handle and said, 'The country needs us, victory or defeat is in the hands of Allah, but we have decided to serve Pakistan. 'He said that those who have fled from Pakistan are trying to take shelter but they will have to return soon.
Bukhari tweeted, and said "I will run away from Pakistan, I have British passport, no other Pakistani with dual citizenship" He said, 'I am 100% Pakistani, I have to live and die here, overseas Pakistanis will always be in our hearts.'
I stand with former PM Imran Khan: Bukhari
Bukhari said that he stood by Imran Khan in difficult times and will always stand by his side. He said, 'I am Pakistani and will remain Pakistani'
According to news agency ANI, along with Bukhari, PTI leader, Shireen Mazari has also confirmed her renunciation of her British nationality. Mazari said Zulfi stood with party president Imran Khan and PTI's Haqiqi for the freedom movement.
Let us tell you that the appointment of Zulfi as SAPM was challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2020 due to being dual national. The petition states that dual citizens should not be appointed as special assistants to the premier, following which the former SAPM resigned from his post in 2021 over the allegations leveled against him in the Rawalpindi Ring Road investigation.
