Inciting rhetoric on nuclear weapons between Russia and the US has been on the rise. Russia's Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has warned Washington that Russia has so many weapons that it can destroy any enemy, including the US.

He also said that America is underestimating the power of Russia. Patrushev is not the only Russian official to threaten a nuclear showdown between the world's two largest nuclear powers. In the past also many Russian officials have given such threats.

American missiles will not be able to stop Russia

Patrushev, an aide to President Vladimir Putin, told the Russian state newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta that US leaders, trapped in their own propaganda, believe that in the event of a direct confrontation with Russia, the US will launch a preventive missile strike, after which Russia will retaliate. Will not be able to give. 

According to him, this is a short-sighted, stupid and extremely dangerous idea. He further said that Russia is tolerant and does not intimidate anyone with its military might but it can destroy any adversary including the US when its existence is threatened. 

Deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus will increase tension

Russia also says it sent thousands of troops to Ukraine in February last year because Kiev's growing closer to NATO, the US-led military alliance, posed a security threat to the country. Since then, Moscow has repeatedly accused the West of posing a nuclear threat to it and has called for the use of nuclear weapons if the country finds itself in a difficult situation.

On Saturday, President Vladimir Putin announced the deployment of strategic nuclear missiles in Belarus. Due to this, there is a possibility of increasing nuclear tension between Western countries and Russia.
