Russia vs Putin: NATO reaches Russia's neck, clears the way for NATO membership of Sweden and Finland, furious Putin

Amidst the Ukraine war, the US Senate has given the green signal to Sweden and Finland to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).  NATO organization NATO is nearing its most significant expansion in decades following the decision of the US Senate.  Both the US Senate and the Italian Parliament on Wednesday approved Finland and Sweden joining the 30-member NATO organization.  The US Senate has taken this step at a time when Russia is completely embroiled in the Ukraine war.  The special thing is that the main reason for the war between Russia and Ukraine was its interest towards NATO.  Russia attacked Ukraine only because of its membership of NATO.  Russia may once again be aggressive regarding the NATO membership of Sweden and Finland.

1- Foreign affairs expert Prof Harsh V Pant says that after the green signal from the Senate, the process of joining both the countries in NATO has accelerated.  This whole process is of seven steps.  Both countries have to accept membership responsibilities.  The current members will then sign a protocol.  It will be approved by the parliaments of all 30 countries.  This whole process may take a year.  He says that because of the Ukraine war, unexpectedly Sweden and Finland need to become members as soon as possible.  This is the reason that Finland and Sweden may soon get membership.

2- As soon as Sweden and Finland become members of NATO, they will come under the collective security of NATO.  Article 5 of the NATO organization assures collective security.  According to this article, an attack on any one member country of NATO will be considered as an attack on the whole organization.  Actually, NATO was formed in the year 1949.  The purpose of this organization was to balance the former Soviet Union.  This was the reason that the Soviet Union and now Russia has not been able to militarily dare to attack even a weak NATO member country.  Alam is that Iceland has no army of its own, but it is under protection.  NATO countries have the right to use the military resources of any country, including the US.  Now the forces of Sweden and Finland will also be able to take part in NATO operations.

3- Russian President Vladimir Putin has been completely shocked by this decision of Finland and Sweden.  Russian President Putin has said that NATO organizations are planning to encircle Russia.  The Russian President said that Ukraine is pushing to build its military edge through war.  Russian President Putin warned that if NATO builds its troops and bases in Finland and Sweden, he will also give a befitting reply.  Russia's deputy foreign minister has called it a huge mistake.

4- Prof Pant said that Russia's concern is justified.  Russia shares its border with five member states of NATO.  Finland's joining NATO will add 1300 km of border to it.  In this way, the border between the US-led NATO countries and Russia will reach 2500 km.  This military alliance will also benefit greatly if Finland and Sweden join NATO.  Due to this, Russia is furious with this decision of NATO.

Turkey will no longer be neutral

Finland and Sweden, which had been neutral for several decades after the Turkish blockade ended, are now just a few steps away from becoming members of NATO.  Russia has suffered a major setback due to the decision of these two major countries of Northern Europe to join NATO.  This is the reason why Russian President Putin has threatened that if Finland and Sweden deploy weapons near the Russian border, they will be given a befitting reply.  Significantly, in view of the increasing threat of Russia and China, the historic meeting of 30 member NATO countries is going on in Spain.  Meanwhile, Turkey has abandoned its opposition to Finland and Sweden joining the organization after a deal.  Both these countries will soon become members of NATO amid Russia's ongoing attack on Ukraine and this military organization will become stronger in the eastern region adjacent to Russia.  Turkey's opposition was a thorn in the road of both countries because if a single member of NATO vetos, then the entry of a new member is stopped.
