WICCI Delhi Childcare Council organizes a two day eye camp in Delhi

A lot of post pandemic issues have come to surface in school going children. Eyesight issues is one of them as children had to be exposed to excess screen time. Younger children need more attention as at times they themselves are not aware of the issues. To raise awareness about eye care, eye disorders, and early detection, detect refractive errors and eye ailments among school children a two-days eye camp for school students was organised at M. L. Khanna DAV Public School located in Dwarka, Delhi on 28th & 29th November 2022 by WICCI – Child Care Council, Delhi under the sponsorship of Falco General Trading LLC which is one of the major players in Petrochemicals and Agricultural Industry. Falco’s Managing Director Dr. Jaspreet Singh Bindra is a Philanthropist who toils and innovates to make this world a better place.

The team of OPTOM Clinic, Delhi had come fully equipped latest tools for the eye camp. The doctors team comprised of qualified Opthalmologists, refractionists, paramedic, nurses and other support staff.  The camp started at 8.30 am sharp and lasted till 2 pm. A total of 800 students were screened from grade 1st to 4th.  The students who were found to have weak eye sight or have any other problem were given free consultation . The doctors examined the eyes of the students and gave valuable feedback and suggestions for further course of action. The students with financial challenges would be provided an environment friendly and fully bio-degradable spectacles. 

On the first day of camp, sections of 1st and 2nd class have been covered and the students from each sections got their eyes tested. During the the President WICCI Delhi Childcare Dr Anushrita and her council members Ms Arushi Bhatia, Ms Anjul Singh, Ms Harmanjit Bindra and Dr Aarti Jora briefed the students in the class about eye care. The members distributed the pamphlets to all the students as well as teachers and discussed all the points mentioned in it. 

On the second day of camp, the students from class 3rd and 4th got their eyes tested. To make students more aware about eye care, a story telling session was held in school auditorium. A very renowned teacher Ms. Vasudha Ahuja took that session and narrated stories to them. The students enjoyed the session throughout. After the session, the Principal, Ms. Monika Mehem addressed the students to take a pledge for being more careful about their overall health. 

The program ended with a small thanksgiving ceremony where green plants were gifted as a token of cooperation and appreciation.
