Britain's Indian-origin Home Secretary Suella Braverman on Sunday took all British Pakistanis under wraps while talking about the gang of British Pakistani men involved in sexual abuse of children.

She has brought a law, which states that it will be legally binding for the concerned citizens to report child sexual abuse. Briefing the media about the new law, he said that there has been a culture of silence about Pakistani male gangs involved in such crimes.

She said she vowed to correct "one of the greatest injustices Britain has seen in modern times".

British Pakistanis involved in crime

Braverman said in a conversation with the BBC, 'The perpetrators are a group of men ... in which almost all are British Pakistanis. These people have a completely different cultural outlook with British values. Their activities are an open secret, yet they have not been challenged both within their community and society. Deliberately turning a blind eye, not doing one's duty and keeping silence on this crime - these have encouraged the crime.

Under their new policy, it will be made clear that anyone involved in or working with vulnerable groups and children, such as teachers and social workers, cannot escape passivity.

Speaking to Sky News, she said, 'What we are seeing now has become a practice in which weak, white, English girls are followed and raped by gangs of British Pakistani Men working in child abuse gangs or networks abuse and harm children.

'Everyone closes their eyes because of fear'

She further said, 'We have seen institutions and agencies of the country, be it social workers, teachers, police, all out of fear, out of fear of being called racist, turn a blind eye to these crimes.'

Children's organizations have welcomed the move and hope the new law will force people to legally report child abuse.

The legislation proposed by the Home Secretary is currently under consultation. Last year, The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) had recommended such a law. In this, the sexual abuse of children was described as an epidemic and it was said that it makes the lives of thousands of victims hell.

IICSA conducted a seven-year investigation in England and Wales that concluded that people in positions of trust should be obliged by law to report child sexual abuse. Inspired by the results of this investigation, Braverman has proposed new legislation.

People are criticizing Suella

Many people are also criticizing the British Home Minister for targeting Pakistanis for child sexual abuse.

A user wrote on Twitter, 'Suella Braverman has called the British Pakistani community guilty of sexual exploitation. But in a report of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2020, it was said that most of the whites are involved in such criminals. Braverman was the Attorney General at that time.
