US kills IS Caliph Abu Ibrahim, President Biden announces action in Syria

US special forces personnel killed Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, the Caliph of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization in Syria on Thursday. This was announced by US President Joe Biden. Earlier in Syria, the founder-Caliph of IS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed by US special forces.

President Biden praised the bravery of the Special Forces personnel and congratulated them on their success. It is told that no American soldier was harmed during the action. They have returned completely safe. According to a senior US official, Abu Ibrahim was killed in action by special forces in northwest Syria near the Turkish border. According to relief teams operating in the area, 13 others, including four women and six children, were also killed in the action.

American soldiers targeted the house with heavy firing and bombing

The area in Syria where special forces operated is a safe haven for several groups of al-Qaeda militants. It is the only area in Syria where rebels are now fighting the government forces of President Bashar al-Assad. The IS leader had made a hiding place in a house in the same area. According to the people of the area, several helicopters landed minutes after midnight on Thursday and the soldiers who landed from them started heavy fire and bombardment targeting a house. This created an atmosphere of panic and shouting in the area. During this, children and women were also warned to run away from the spot through loudspeakers. At the end of the operation, bodies of more than a dozen people were found lying there.

Abu Ibrahim became the leader of the terrorist organization after IS founder al-Baghdadi was killed in northern Syria in October 2019. Under the leadership of Baghdadi, IS captured large areas of Iraq and Syria and declared it their nation. Baghdadi used to call himself the Caliph of this Islamic nation.
