Actually, a similar order has been issued in our neighboring country Nepal. The order has banned the import of roses for Valentine's Day. The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal and Bird Development of the country has issued the order.
The circular issued by the government said, "Bringing rose flowers from all borders and airports of India and China should be banned with immediate effect. The Government of Nepal has issued this circular
Nepal facing economic recession will not import roses worth crores
The reason behind the government's ban on importing roses from India and China has also come to the fore. In fact, Nepal is currently battling with an economic recession. On the occasion of Valentine's Day, the government has to import crores of stemmed roses every year. Actually, the production of roses in Nepal is not as much as the demand.
There is a demand of two and a half to three lakh stick roses
Every year, two and a half to three lakh stick roses worth crores of rupees have been imported in Nepal on Valentine's Day. Rose flowers are produced here. However, the demand for flowers increases on Valentine's Day. Nepal imports Stick rose from India and China for its supply.
At the same time, according to Nepalese customs officials, 10,000 kg of roses have been imported from India till the Nepal government banned the import of roses.
Nepal Floriculture Association says this
According to the Nepal Floriculture Association, only 20,000 pieces of rose flowers are produced in Nepal. However, according to an estimate, there is a demand of two lakh pieces of rose flowers in Kathmandu and about one and a half to two lakh pieces in other cities on Valentine's Day. This time there is going to be a shortage of two and a half to three lakh pieces of rose flowers on Valentine's Day.
