Akshata Murthy: Rishi Sunak's wife Akshata earns billions every year from Infosys, income of 126.6 crores in 2022

Akshata Murthy met Rishi Sunak during her MBA at Stanford. Both got married in 2009. The couple, who own a huge real estate portfolio, have two children, Krishna and Anushka. Akshata is also a shareholder in Infosys.

Akshata Murthy, wife of Britain's newly elected Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, has assets worth billions. Akshata Murthy has earned Rs 126.61 crore as dividend in 2022 from her stake in Infosys, India's second largest IT company. If it is measured in dollars, then this income would be equal to 15.3 million US dollars.

According to a regulatory filing made on the stock exchange, Akshata Murthy, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, held 3.89 crore, or 0.93 per cent, of Infosys at the end of September. His stake is worth Rs 5,956 crore (about US $ 721 million) at a trading price of Rs 1,527.40 on the BSE on Tuesday. 

Let us tell you that Infosys is one of the best dividend paying companies in India. In 2021, it paid a total dividend of Rs 30 per share. Akshata got a total of Rs 119.5 crores that year. 

Akshata Murthy's earnings from Infosys

Infosys has paid a dividend of Rs 16 per share for the financial year 2021-22 on May 31 this year. According to the filing made by the company with the stock exchange, for the current year this month the firm has declared an interim dividend of Rs 16.5. The sum of both the dividends works out to Rs 32.5 per share. Accordingly, the value of Akshata Murthy's dividend was Rs 126.61 crore. 

 Akshata Murthy is a citizen of India

Rishi Sunak, 42, on Sunday won the race to lead the Conservative Party and will become Britain's first prime minister of Indian origin. While Sunak is a British citizen, his wife Akshata is an Indian citizen. Their non domicile status allows them to earn money without paying taxes in the UK for a period of up to 15 years. Akshata's non-domicile status became a topic of discussion in Britain when Sunak first entered the race to become Prime Minister in April this year. 

There has been a dispute regarding tax liability

Her spokesperson at the time said that as a citizen of India, she was unable to hold citizenship of any other country, but she had and would continue to pay taxes on all income from the UK. As the controversy escalated, it was said that she would pay tax in the UK on all her worldwide earnings.
