The number of homes on 10 Downing Street we see in pictures today was very different in the past. Earlier houses were not known by numbers but by the names of their occupants. What we call Downing Street today was named by Sir George Downing, 1st Baronet. How Larry became a member of 10 Downing Street
Larry was recruited in 2011 by the then British Prime Minister David Cameron. Let us tell you that Larry was earlier a stray animal and was adopted from Battersea Dogs in London. Larry is now famous as Britain's mouse-catcher in chief.
Larry was recruited to deal with the rats running in the official residence of the British leader at the time. He was later given the title of Chief Mouser for the Cabinet Office. According to the 10 Downing Street website, Larry also has certain duties that he must perform. This includes greeting guests in the house, conducting security inspections.
