Europe ready to deploy troops in Ukraine, French President said- 'Russia will not decide on peacekeepers'

The situation regarding Ukraine is getting complicated day by day. Apart from Russia, Ukraine and America, Europe is now emerging as a strong party. Amidst the talks of ceasefire, France and Britain have announced the deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine if the war stops. These peacekeepers will be from more than 25 countries including Britain and France.

On Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the decision to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine will be taken not by Russia but by the Ukrainian government. Ukraine's allied countries will fully support it in this task.

What did Emmanuel Macron say?

In an interview to the French media, Macron said that Ukraine is a sovereign nation. If it asks for the deployment of a joint army of allied countries in its territory, then it will be its decision. Whether Russia accepts that decision or not, it does not matter.

Macron said that the number of soldiers of each allied country in the joint army can be a few thousand and it will be deployed at places of strategic importance. It is known that amid the discussion of ceasefire, Russia has always opposed the idea of deployment of troops of NATO member countries in Ukraine.

Ukraine and Russia agreed on ceasefire

Earlier on Saturday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted a virtual meeting with Macron and leaders of non-US allied countries. Ukraine and Russia have agreed on a ceasefire, but the fighting between the two countries continues and there are continuous air strikes on each other.
