Bridge collapses: Accident happened while cutting ribbon during the opening ceremony of the bridge in Congo

A bridge in Congo collapsed during the opening ceremony itself. As soon as the organizer cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the bridge, the bridge broke and the central section of the bridge fell into the water flowing below. It is known that many dignitaries gathered to inaugurate a footbridge in the Congolese capital on Monday. Several persons were also present on the bridge during the opening ceremony. As soon as a person cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the bridge, the bridge collapsed and fell down. A video going viral on social media has been verified by news agency Reuters.

The accident happened during the ribbon cutting of the event

As an organizer cut the ribbon during the ceremony in the Mont-Mont-Ngaphula district of Kinshasa, both the railings of the bridge broke and the central section of the bridge fell into the water flowing below. When the bridge collapsed and the VIPs were trying to get out and escape from this bridge, the spectators present there, seeing all this happening, started shouting with glee. However, there is no report of any casualty so far during this entire incident. 

In a video going viral on social media, it is seen that after the collapse of the bridge, there is sudden panic and people are seen trying a lot to save each other. The woman, who cut the ribbon for the inauguration of the bridge, is seen saving her by a security personnel present there. After falling under the bridge, at last a security personnel wearing black glasses is seen climbing smoothly over the bridge. This video is going viral very fast on social media.
