India-Israel Relations: Israel is trying to make India self-reliant, relations between the two countries are quite successful

Israel's ambassador to India, Naor Gilon, has described the defense ties between the two countries as very successful. Ambassador Naor Gilon stressed the importance of India-Israel defense ties, saying it has been a long and successful one. He said that in Tel Aviv, New Delhi is very happy to be a strong partner in the areas of UAVs, rockets, missiles and other defense systems. He said that we are working together under the Make in India program to make India self-reliant. 

Make in India program commendable

Naor Gilon talks with news agency ANI on completing one year as Ambassador to India. He told ANI that the relations between the two countries have become very strong. Gilon said that the Make in India program is being appreciated by Tel Aviv and steps are also being taken in this area. “The defense relationship between India and Israel has been a long and successful one. Israeli companies are adjusting themselves under the Make in India programme. Big companies are starting joint business with Indian companies and together I think Israel's role in Make-in-India program can prove to be very important. 

The country needs to become self-reliant

Emphasizing on self-reliance, the ambassador said, "If we look at the events happening in Ukraine and in the world, we have to be self-reliant and ready to face all challenges." In today's time no one comes to save anyone. You have to protect yourself. This is our belief, which Israel has believed from the beginning. More and more countries need to understand this. 

India gets projects under I2U2

Complimenting the current government in India, Ambassador Gillon said, 'I have worked in many countries, but nowhere have I seen such widespread and popular support. There is a very close relationship between the two countries. Overall it is a great experience for me.' He said on I2U2, 'I2U2 was formed a year ago. India, Israel, UAE and US are working together for all. Under this, India has got two good projects.
