Rishi Sunak sets off to attend G-20 summit, possibilities of meeting PM Modi; Direct target on Russia

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday left for Indonesia to attend the G-20 annual summit. During this, he resolved to invite President Putin to the G20 on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Indian-origin PM Sunak was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Britain last month. He is expected to hold his first meeting with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi after taking over as PM. 

Putin wreaks havoc in the world by war

Leaders from all over the world will attend the G-20 summit to be held in Bali, Indonesia. The G-20 is a grouping of the world's largest economies. India will assume the chairmanship of this powerful grouping from Indonesia, the current chairman, on December 1. In a statement before starting his visit to Bali, PM Sunak said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has caused havoc all over the world due to war. People are losing their lives due to war and the international economy is in complete turmoil. 

Emphasis on working together

“The G-20 summit will not be as business as usual. We will condemn Putin's regime during this period, as well as his contempt for international cooperation and respect for sovereignty forums such as the G20. Unlike President Putin's war, we and our allies will work together to solve the economic challenges we face and improve people's lives. It is known that Sunak will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the first plenary session of the G20. 

Putin will not attend  

According to reports, Downing Street prepared the summit with the expectation of the Russian President attending the G-20. However, Moscow said last week that President Putin would not attend the conference. In his place at this conference, the Kremlin had decided to send Foreign Minister Lavrov.
