Russia says- Army attack will continue in Ukraine's Donetsk region, 23 clashes took place in the last 24 hours
The Russian Defense Ministry said military operations would continue in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 1,100 Russian troops had been killed in less than a week of fighting near the eastern city of Bakhmut.
Russia's Defense Ministry said on Sunday that military operations in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region would continue. He has claimed to have killed 220 Ukrainian soldiers within 24 hours.
The attack also claimed to have destroyed an infantry vehicle as well as three armored vehicles besides a D30 howitzer.
More than 500 Russian soldiers died in the last 24 hours
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 1,100 Russian troops had been killed in less than a week of fighting near the eastern city of Bakhmut. A day earlier, Ukraine said that more than 500 Russian soldiers were either killed or wounded in a 24-hour period. They were fighting for control of Bakhmut.
Russia trying to capture Bakhmut
Moscow says the capture of Bakhmut would be a major dent in Ukraine's security and an important step towards a complete annexation of the Donbass industrial region. A leading US-based think tank said Russia's progress in Moscow's campaign to capture the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut has stalled.
23 clashes took place in the last 24 hours
The report cited Serhiy Cherevaty, a spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He said fighting in the Bakhmut area was more intense this week than last week. According to Cherevati, there were 23 clashes in the city in the last 24 hours.
