The European Union (EU) may soon take tough measures against some countries including Russia. The European Union is considering new sanctions totaling 11 billion euros against some other countries that have provided key military equipment used by Russia in its war against Ukraine.

European Union ambassadors gathered on Wednesday to discuss a 10th package of sanctions against Russia. This package will also be discussed on the coming Monday. So that it can get final approval by the completion of one year of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on 24 February. 

EU wants to stop arms supply to Russia European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen informed on Wednesday that the 27-member European Union, under this package, specifically wants Russia to not get the military equipment it needs and other countries and organizations should also provide it with such equipment. Can't supply. 

At the same time, the package also seeks to plug some of the loopholes in older packages that let Russia's powerful and elite escape sanctions.

The latest sanctions also include a proposal to impose sanctions on seven Iranian organizations to prevent Russia from using Iranian drones to attack Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. 

Individuals and organizations involved in kidnapping of children will be tightened

Leyen says that if the EU unanimously supports the proposals, it would ban all products used by Russia in the war. EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said the package would also seek to crack down on an additional 100 individuals and entities involved in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children and taking them to Russia.
