UK PM Race: Rishi Sunak runs tax card in competition with Liz Truss, says - will cut tax by 20 percent by 2029

Indian-origin leader Rishi Sunak, who seems to be lagging behind in the survey being conducted in the midst of the ongoing process to choose a new prime minister in Britain, took a U-turn on levying taxes on Monday.  He said, on becoming the Prime Minister, he will cut income tax by 20 percent by 2029.  Britain is going through a period of record inflation due to the Kovid epidemic and the Ukraine war.  In such a situation, people are finding it difficult to pay taxes.

Sunak's rival Foreign Minister Liz Truss has announced relief to the general public by cutting taxes.  It is believed that for this reason he is getting more support among the members of the Conservative Party.  Whereas till now Sunak's priority was to build a strong and well-educated Britain.  Obviously, this would require funds from the government and no reduction in taxes would be possible.

According to the report of the news agency Reuters, the people of Britain, who are facing the highest inflation rate of 9.4 percent in the last 40 years, need relief in it.  That's why Liz Truss seems to have an edge.  But Sunak's latest announcement is expected to turn the dice.  Sunak can once again overtake Liz and become the next prime minister of Britain.

Sunak told BBC Radio it would be the biggest tax cut in the country since the government of Margaret Thatcher.  If even a penny is cut in the current rate of income tax, then the burden of six billion pounds will be on the exchequer.  But due to lack of funds in the treasury, he will not allow the development of the country to stop and will arrange money from other items.

Sunak to organize women's football world cup

Sunak said, if he becomes the Prime Minister, he will organize the Women's Football World Cup in Britain.  This will be done in view of the enthusiasm for football among the women of Britain.  Recently the UK women's football team has won the Euro Championship in Germany.
