Climate Change: WMO expressed concern, said - the situation of weather and climate change in China is very serious

China is facing adverse weather these days. Many parts of the country are battling scorching heat and drought, while floods continue to wreak havoc in many areas. Like Europe, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has warned of severe heat in China and said that necessary steps should be taken in time for this. The organization has said that during the next five years, all countries will have to reduce greenhouse gas by working in the field of climate change.

Climate change situation in China horrifying

The world's most populous country is grappling with the effects of climate change. There is an urgent need to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country. World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Assistant Secretary-General Dr Wenjian Zhang said that the situation of weather and climate change in China is extremely serious. The southern part of the country is experiencing severe heat and drought, while the north remains in a flood situation. This dual situation of flood and drought in different parts of China has created many challenges for disaster prevention and relief operations. He further said that we are clearly seeing the effects of climate change.

Scorching heat broke many records

China's Meteorological Administration said that the severe heat started in southern China from June 13. Since 1961, the weather conditions are being recorded in the country, since then it has been the hottest year. By August 15, the scorching heat in China had broken the record of 62 days in 2013. China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) had issued 30 high temperature red alerts. Climate forecasters have predicted that the heatwave conditions in the country will start subsiding from August 26.
