Ministers in President Alberto Fernandez's government issued a statement saying they "strongly condemn the attempted assassination" of the vice president. The statement also said, "What happened tonight is a grave matter and threatens democracy, institutions and the rule of law." Former President Mauricio Macri also condemned the attack. "This very serious incident calls for an immediate and thorough explanation by the judiciary and security forces," Macri said on Twitter.
