First heart transplant done in RML, 15 year old girl's organ donation saved four lives
Heart transplant facility has also started in RML Hospital. RML has become the third government hospital in Delhi after AIIMS and Army Hospital. In which patients will be able to get facilities.
A woman admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi had cardiomyopathy. Because of this, his heart was working only up to 15 percent. To save the life of the patient, the doctors decided for a heart transplant. The doctors of RML performed the first successful heart transplant with the help of experts from AIIMS. The doctors of Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of RML along with doctors from the Department of Anesthesia and Cardiology performed this surgery.
According to Dr. Narendra Singh Jhajharia, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the decision to transplant was taken in view of the woman's problem. In this regard, a file was prepared and given to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTO). On August 21, a brain dead teenager donated her organs at PGI Chandigarh.
The teenager donated both kidneys, liver, pancreas, heart and cornea. The teenager's heart was safely evacuated from Chandigarh to Delhi airport. A green corridor was made from the airport to RML and Hart was brought to the hospital safely. The surgery process started at around 10 pm. After a five-hour operation, a successful heart transplant was performed.
15 year old teenager gave new life to four people
A 15-year-old girl admitted to Chandigarh PGI was brought to the PGI after being injured in an accident, where she was declared brain dead. The doctors talked to the relatives for organ donation and they agreed to donate. According to the note, the heart of this teenager was transplanted to a female patient in RML, whereas, kidney, liver and pancreas were transplanted in three patients in PGI itself.
At the age of just 15, the girl said goodbye to the world, but she saved the lives of four people. Due to the hard work of doctors and timely transplant, the lives of all the patients could be saved.
