Govardhan Puja 2022: Every year on the next day of Deepawali, the Govardhan Puja festival is celebrated with great pomp. But this year it will not happen. Let us inform that Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on 26 October 2022 this year. This year Diwali festival is on 24th October but next day i.e. on 25th October 2022, there is going to be a solar eclipse. Due to which the Govardhan Puja festival will be celebrated on 26 October. According to the legends, on the day of Govardhan Puja, Lord Shri Krishna defeated the ego of Indra Dev and Lord Shri Krishna saved the people of Braj from the wrath of Devraj Indra. Govardhan Puja 2022 Vidhi

On the day of Govardhan Puja, the Govardhan deity is made using cow dung and decorated with flowers. Naivedya, lamps, flowers, fruits and lamps are offered to the deity Govardhan during the puja. The Govardhan deity is made in sleeping posture and instead of his navel, an earthen lamp is kept. Milk, curd, Gangajal, honey and Batase are offered in this lamp and are distributed as prasad. After worship, they are circumambulated seven times. At the time of circumambulation, there is a law to circumambulate while pouring water from the lotus and sowing barley. Lord Vishwakarma is also worshiped on this day. 

Annakoot on Govardhan Puja

It has been told in the scriptures that it is mandatory to organize Annakoot on the day of Govardhan Puja. Annakoot means a mixture of grains. This mixture is offered to Lord Krishna as bhog and after the worship all these things are distributed as prasad.
