Shrutismita Das, A teenage girl from Assam, Northeast, with eyes full of hopes and dreams. Currently studying in 12 standard & pursuing Science. Fascinated in dance, art & craft and writing sincethe springtime of her life, she has acquired many prizes in several competitions. She believes that the best way to get started is to stop talking and start working. Accordingly she started writing poems , expressing her thoughts and emotions on several topics, necessary for people to understand. She writes many different types of poem to inspire all the readers. She has been a part of 3-4 anthologies.
Her motive is to make people realise the true beauty of North Eastern region. It's heartbreaking as people of Northeast are still facing racism in their own country. In most of the places the people of North East are not treated well. It is very qutodian for a Northeast Indian to get marginalized for their looks, clothes and lifestyle. Afew people of their own country are unaware of the Northeastern States. They treat northeast as a foreign region. Recently aYouTuber called an MLA from Arunachal Pradesh “Chinese or not Indian enough” due to the lack of knowledge. The main reason behind all of this is that Northeastern region is often not explored properly with rest of India and its importance is often understimated.
To make people understand the value of Northeastern region, school textbooks must be redesigned to include chapters on North Eastern States — Arunachal Pradesh (Orchid State of India or the Paradiseof the Botanists), Assam (Home to One Horned Rhinoceros),Manipur (Jewel state of India), Meghalaya (Abode of Clouds),Mizoram (Land of the Blue Mountains), Nagaland (Land ofFestivals), Sikkim (Himalayan Paradise) and Tripura (Land ofDiversity). And an account of the land, people, history, geography,culture, ethnicity to educate ‘mainland’ Indians. Moreover the Government must take the responsibility for educating the countryabout the history, culture and politics of the Northeast India.
This will bring a positive impact and will lead to an end of qtheracial discrimination faced by the people and a harmonious relationship can be built among all the Indians.
India is a well known country for 'unity in diversity'.
