Mathura News: For the first time in Independent India, a woman is going to be hanged, preparations begin

Mathura News: Shabnam, a resident of Amroha,along with her lover had brutally killed seven of her family members with an axe in April 2008. In this case, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence of Shabnam. The President has also rejected her mercy petition.

Mathura: For the first time in the history of independent India, a female prisoner will be hanged on Gallows. Shabnam, who lives in Amroha, will be sentenced to death in Uttar Pradesh's only femalein Gallows in Mathura. Preparations have been started for this. Pawan Jallad (Executioner) of Meerut who hanged Nirbhaya's accused has also inspected the hanging house twice. However, the date of hanging is not fixed yet.

No woman has been hanged till date.
Significantly, the first female hanging house was built in Mathura jail 150 years ago. But since independence, no woman has been sentenced to death till now. Senior Jail Superintendent Shailendra Kumar Maitreya said that the date of hanging is not fixed yet. But we have started preparations. Shabnam will be hanged as soon as the death warrant is issued.

Rope will be ordered from Buxar

According to the jail superintendent, Pawan executioner has inspected the hanging house twice. He saw a reduction in the latch, which is being corrected. Rope is being called for hanging from Buxar. If there will be no hindrance at the last minute, Shabnam would be the first woman to be hanged after independence.
