Night curfew in Delhi on Dec 31, Jan 1; New Year celebrations restricted due to Covid-19 virus.
In the wake of the Covid -19 virus outbreak, a night curfew has been imposed on New Delhi from December 31 to January 1. New year celebratory events, congregations, and gatherings at public places Malls Clubs Parks have been prohibited.
District Disaster Management Authority on Thursday said night curfew will be imposed in the national capital on December 31 and January 1 in order to curtail public gatherings and ensure no further spread of the noble coronavirus during the New Year celebrations.
"No new year celebratory events, congregations and gatherings at public places" shall be permitted from 11.00 pm of 31 December to 6.00 am of January 1 and also from 11.00 pm of January 1 to 6.00 am of January 2 in the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi ," the authority said.
District Disaster Management Authority has said after a detailed assessment of the situation in New Delhi and considering the threat posed by the mutant of covid -19 UK strain of Covid-19 virus along with local incidents of Covid-19 pandemic, it is apprehended that gatherings, congregations and public celebrations of New Year pose a considerable threat of the spread of the covid virus and may cause a setback to how the situation has been handled so far.
After considering the Covid situation in the region, the authority has directed that night curfew be imposed on December 31 and January 1 and not more than 5 persons will be allowed to assemble in public places at once.
However, there will be no restrictions on the interstate and intrastate movement of persons and goods during the curfew period.
The authority has directed all DM of Delhi and their counterpart District Deputy Commissioners of Police and all authorities to ensure strict compliance with this order.
