Adhir Ranjan's letter to Lok Sabha Speaker – Action should be taken against BJP MPs who raised slogans against Sonia Gandhi
Amidst controversies after Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's 'national wife' statement, BJP MPs on Thursday allegedly surrounded Sonia Gandhi and raised slogans against her.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has written a letter to Speaker Om Birla regarding the tussle with Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Amid controversies after Chaudhary's 'national wife' statement, BJP MPs on Thursday allegedly surrounded Sonia Gandhi and raised slogans against her. Through the letter, Chaudhary has apprised Speaker Om Birla about the whole matter.
He said, “At 12 o’clock, after the adjournment of the House, a group of BJP MPs raised slogans against Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. Seeing the method of protesting the sloganeering MPs, she herself went to them. When she reached to ask BJP MP Rama Devi, a large group of MPs, both men and women – including ministers – surrounded Sonia Gandhi.
The arrogance of power has exceeded all limits and the occurrence of the assault on Smt Sonia Gandhi in the chamber of loksabha disdains the dignity of democracy.

He said, “The group of MPs tried to attack Sonia Gandhi both verbally and physically. The situation had become such that Sonia Gandhi could have been seriously injured. Later, women MPs of Congress and other MPs of the opposition took her out safely. We urge you to intervene in this matter and send it to the Privilege Committee – so that all those MPs are suspended from the House.”
