Arpita Mukherjee, a well-known actress of the film world and an aide of West Bengal's arrested minister Partha Chatterjee, is in the headlines these days. He is in the center of discussion these days for the alleged recovery of a large amount of cash from Arpita Mukherjee's flat and his arrest in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam case. Started career with modeling
Mukherjee, who was active in the Bengali and Oriya film industry between 2008 and 2014, also modeled, but despite limited success in the entertainment industry, Arpita owns a luxurious apartment in South Kolkata's Joka area. Enforcement Directorate (ED) sources said she regularly went to hookah bars in the city and also traveled to places like Bangkok and Singapore. She belongs to a middle-class family from Belghoria in the city's northern suburb and has been modeling since her college days.

Industry sources said that after the death of her father, she was married to a businessman from Jhargram, but not much is known about the marriage, as she had returned to Kolkata. Arpita has acted in six Oriya films, including 'Bande Utkal Janani' and 'Prem Rogi', both of which were box office hits. She also starred in the 2010 film Mu Kana Ete Kharap (2010) co-starring Chandrachud Singh and Kemmity e Bandhan (2011) with Anubhav Mohanty. His last Oriya film was 'Raju Awara' in 2012. Arpita had small roles in Bengali films such as 'Bhoot in Roseville', 'Jeena the Endless Love', 'Bidehar Khonje Rabindrath', 'Mama Bhagne' and 'Partner', but she has not been seen in films since 2014.

BJP leader and filmmaker Sanghamitra Chowdhury said that he had given Mukherjee roles in three films before 2013. Sanghamitra told PTI-Bhasha, "She is a young, beautiful and talented actress from a humble background. I always tried to get new people. We have not been in touch with each other after I joined the BJP in the year 2013." Sanghamitra further said that she later realized that Arpita was too ambitious.

On the recovery of a huge amount of money allegedly from Arpita Mukherjee's apartment, Sanghamitra Choudhary said, "I was shocked by her getting into such a dispute. They may even be jailed. I am sorry for this.” In the purported pictures and videos viral on social media, Arpita is seen sharing the stage with Partha Chatterjee and even Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In a photograph shared on Twitter by Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari, Mukherjee also attended the Trinamool Congress' Martyrs' Day rally on July 21.
