In view of the threat of Omicron, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to close the schools in the city. The Delhi government has also taken steps regarding this variant.
14 cases of Omicron in Karnataka
Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar said on Saturday that six new cases of Omicron have been reported in the state. Of the six cases, five were reported from two educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada district. According to the report of news agency PTI, with this the number of Omicron infected in Karnataka has increased to 14.

On the other hand, Pune officials said on Saturday that eight new cases of Omicron were reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. A Uganda-returned couple and their 13-year-old daughter have tested positive for Omicron infection in Satara, western Maharashtra. Another daughter of the couple, who is five years old, has also been found to be Kovid-19 positive. It is a matter of relief that Omicron has not been confirmed in this child. Officials said that the samples of all four were sent for genome test, whose report came on Saturday. In Maharashtra, the number of infected people of Comicron has gone up to 48.
Delhi government made four private hospitals Omicron Center
At the same time, amidst the emerging concerns over Omicron, the Delhi government on Saturday took a big step and converted four private hospitals into Omicron dedicated centres. These four hospitals are Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Max (Saket), Fortis (Vasant Kunj) and Batra Hospital (Tughlakabad). Now a total of five hospitals in Delhi including Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) will provide treatment facilities to the infected of Omicron. It is known that a total of 22 cases of Omicron have been reported in Delhi.
New cases continue to decline
New cases of corona infection continue to decline in the country. Active cases are also decreasing continuously. A drop of 1,850 has been recorded in active cases during the last 24 hours. Presently the active cases have come down to 84,565 which is 0.24 per cent of the total cases.

According to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Saturday, 7,145 new cases have been found and 289 people have lost their lives in the last one day, of which 243 deaths are from Kerala alone and 12 from Maharashtra. For some time now, the Kerala government has already been releasing the deaths due to Corona by combining it with the new figures.

16 students of a school in Navi Mumbai infected
According to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in Maharashtra, 16 students have been found infected with corona in a school located in Ghansoli area. All of them are students of class VIII to XI. An NMMC official said that a class 11 student was found infected. After that the rest of the students were examined. So far 811 students of the school have been screened and 600 are yet to be screened.
Nursing College Containment Zone declared in Mangaluru
A private nursing college in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district has been declared a containment zone after seven students tested positive for coronavirus. All the seven students found infected are from Kerala who came with negative RT-PCR test report.
