A statement issued by the bank said that it is setting up a 'Digital Unit' and an 'Enterprise Unit' to introduce new digital products and services and enhance its IT (Information Technology) infrastructure in the future. . These units are part of the technology transformation to run the bank and bring it up to date.

It may be mentioned that the bank's workforce is 1.2 lakh as of March and it has been facing technical problems for the last few years. Along with this, the Reserve Bank has banned the bank from introducing new credit cards or new digital products.

The bank said last week that it would be in touch with the RBI to resume restricted services, but a timeline for this is difficult to say. The bank's chief information officer Ramesh Lakshminarayanan said several works have been done, including a visit by an external audit team to assess its capabilities and submit an audit report.
