Stock Market Closing 26 Aug The Indian stock markets closed with a slight increase on Friday. The top gainers were NTPC Titan Powergrid Kotak Mahindra Bank L&T Tech Mahindra and Tata Steel
On the last day of the week, trading in the Indian stock market was mostly in the green mark. However, the markets closed almost flat with slight gains at the close of trading. The BSE Sensex closed at 58,833.87 with a gain of 59.1 points. At the same time, the Nifty of NSE closed at 17,558.90 with a gain of 0.21 percent.
Bank Nifty also closed at 38,987 with a gain of 0.09 per cent, while India VIZ declined by 6.9 per cent and closed at 18.22. On a weekly basis, Sensex and Nifty closed with a red mark.
IndusInd Bank, HDFC, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy's Lab, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever and ICICI Bank were among the top Sensex losers. NTPC, Titan, PowerGrid, Kotak Mahindra Bank L&T, Tech Mahindra and Tata Steel were among the top gainers in the stocks.
In early trade, the Sensex was seen trading at the level of 59,050.67 and at one point it had reached the level of 19,321.65. Later, the profit-booking pressure on the market increased and by the time it closed, only a slight increase remained in it. The Sensex had recorded a fall of 310.71 points on Thursday. Similarly, Nifty also saw a decline of 82.50 points on Thursday.
Syrma SGS Technologies had a great listing in the stock market. On the BSE, it was seen trading at Rs 262 with a rise of 19 percent. Its issue price was Rs 220. Shares of Syrma SGS Technologies were listed at Rs 260 on NSE. Its shares touched the level of Rs 296.75 on BSE.
For the third consecutive day, the shares of NDTV also hit the upper circuit on Friday. On Friday, the Adani Group had said that it would buy a majority stake in the media company. On Thursday, NDTV shares closed at Rs 403.70 and today it closed at Rs 423.85, up 5 per cent.
