"Chrisann, You're Free": Tears Over Call As Actress Chrisann Pereira Released From UAE Jail , watch video

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Krishan Pereira has been released from jail in the United Arab Emirates. He was arrested earlier this month after allegedly being implicated in a drugs case.

Krisna's brother Kevin Pereira shared a video on Instagram, in which the 27-year-old actress is talking to her mother on a video call after being released from Sharjah jail.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Kevin wrote, "Chris is free!!! She will be in India in the next 48 hours."

It is shown in the video that the actress had tears in her eyes when her mother and other family members were talking to her. His mother Pramila Perera says, "You are free. It is a pleasant surprise. The video is no longer found on Instagram as it has been removed for some reasons.

Mumbai's Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Lakhmi Gautam said that the actress is expected to return to India within 48 hours. Pereira was arrested on 1 April at Sharjah airport. The Mumbai Crime Branch later learned that the actress was framed by a bakery owner out of revenge after a fight over a dog.

The police have arrested Anthony Paul, the owner of the bakery, and Rajesh Bobhate, assistant general manager in a bank, who helped Anthony in framing Krishan Pereira.

Initial investigation revealed that Anthony's sister had a fight with the actress's mother over the dog. Both live in the same building. Police suspect that the actress was allegedly made a drug mule over this issue.

Anthony reportedly contacted the actress through Rajesh, who introduced himself as a talent consultant and told her about an audition for a web series in Sharjah.

Police said that he also asked her to take away a trophy in which he had hidden the drugs. He was told that the memento was an audition prop.

Police said, "She gave the trophy by hiding marijuana and poppy seeds so that she could be caught there. After she landed, she called the Sharjah airport and told the authorities that she was taking drugs."

These people demanded Rs 80 lakh from Perera's family for his release after he was caught with drugs. The police had sent the investigation report to the Ministry of External Affairs.

The ministry then shared the information with the UAE government and the Drugs Information Agency. Police said that Anthony and Rajesh had conspired to trap at least five people in a similar way.
