On Friday, Russia launched airstrikes on two Ukrainian port cities—Odesa and Mykolaiv—killing three people and causing property damage.
Two Ukrainian nationals aboard a foreign vessel were killed in Mykolaiv, a city on the Black Sea coast, while one person died in Odesa. Infrastructure and property at both ports also sustained damage during the attacks.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his forces have targeted another oil refinery within Russia.
Additionally, Ukraine claimed to have struck a Russian airbase located 800 kilometers deep inside Russian territory, destroying a Tu-95 bomber aircraft.
Throughout July, Ukraine has repeatedly attacked Russian oil tankers and cargo ships. More than a hundred tankers and vessels have been targeted in the Sea of Azov alone, inflicting heavy losses on Russia.
Rattled by these strikes, Russia launched attacks on the Ukrainian ports of Odesa and Mykolaiv on Friday. Three cargo ships engaged in trade with Ukraine were also damaged in the Russian strikes, and the loading of grain onto vessels at Ukrainian ports has come to a halt.
